According to Lama Al-Safadi, a psychological and social specialist, “Emotional intelligence is how we act intelligently with our emotions, and we are able to regulate the sentiments and emotions that we are experiencing, through the appropriate abilities.


Added her: “Because many parents don’t know how else to handle their kids’ emotions than yelling or being silent, for instance, kids often don’t know how to express themselves, which leads to aggression, rage, and withdrawal at the academic level.

“The child must be taught at the school the required abilities to express and manage his feelings, even from the age of 4 years in the kindergarten, because the largest problem for children and teenagers is that they cannot express their emotions, Al-Safadi added. Additionally, they are unable to express their emotions through words and behaviour.

It is vital to reintegrate socially isolated children and teenagers into the actual world where there is authentic social interaction because they spend more time in their virtual world than their physical one.
