After the Vatican Library, experts rank the Saint Catherine Monastery Library as the second-most significant library in the world in terms of the quantity and worth of its collection of Christian manuscripts.
According to the Information and Decision Support Center, there are 4,500 manuscripts in the library, with 2,300 of them written in Greek. The library also has an archive reference that includes letters to and from emperors, heads of the monastery, and other important figures, as well as archaeological blogs, maps, and images.

The “Kodix Sinatikos” or “Torah Sina” manuscript of the Greek Torah, which contains both the Old and New Testaments.
The library has a long history that dates back to the sixth century. It houses an important and distinctive collection of religious and historical documents. The library once housed copies of the Bible, but they were stolen, transferred to Tsarist Russia, and later sold to the British Museum in London. Between 1949 and 1950, an Egyptian-American mission captured the library’s collection on microfilm and distributed copies among Alexandria University.
