A Russian player was prevented from entering Romania because of citizenship

Due to nationality-related issues, the Portuguese Football Club of the Benfica Halls declared on its official website that it would deny its Russian international player Ivan Chickala the opportunity to play in a Champions League match in Romania.
Ivan Chickala has been a member of the Benfica club since August 2020. In the 37 games he played throughout the season (2021–2022), he scored 30 goals. His contract with the Portuguese team runs through May 24.

On Thursday, October 6, Poland forbade the Russian Mohamed-Shabi Suleiman from entering the country in order to take part in the European Conference Cup match between the Israeli team Hapoel Beersheba and the Polish club Liez (0-0).
Additionally, the European Football Association’s press department (UEFA) provided comments that read: “All travel requirements, including visa requests, have to be handled by the participating teams,” according to the Russian sports website “Chambionate.”
