In an ancient church that was being excavated in Turkey, archaeologists found inside rooms that date to the late Roman era and were originally used to store sacred water.
A team of Turkish archaeologists excavated in the old city of Antakya, currently, the capital of Hatay Province, the province located in the far south of Turkey, the original settlement was established in a fertile valley on the Asi River, about 20 kilometers from the old Turkish city of Antochia.
About about 300 BC, the city founded the city, as one of the heirs of the Empire of Alexander the Great, this was only a single position in what would become the Seleucid Empire, a Greek country in West Asia that was present during the Hellenistic period. The Daily Sabah reports that the city prospered and become tremendously wealthy and powerful among the Romans in the area.
In Christian circles, it is well known that Antakia is where the name “Christian,” which refers to followers of Christ, was first coined. In order to learn more about how the Romans worshipped at this ancient sacred place, the residential parts of the ancient city have now been excavated for the first time.
The oldest church’s history, including the floor mosaic and the murals’ effects on the right side of the altar, dates to roughly the fourth or fifth century AD.
The sacred place is currently 9. 5 metres (31. 16 feet) wide, 13 metres (42. 65 feet) long, and 7 metres high (22. 96 feet)..
