The President of the German Federation opposes the province of the World Cup Qatar

Bernd Nindorf, the president of the German Football Association, stated that he was opposed to a boycott of the World Cup in Qatar.
In comments to the German radio “SWR”, Nindorf said on Wednesday: “When the tournament begins, the focus will be on the sports side, but we must be clear in our position if the talk about societal and political conditions in Qatar.

The 61-year-old Nindorf emphasised his desire to participate in the major sporting event, but he also recognised that the German national team and the Football Association had obligations. He continued by saying that he was in favour of paying out compensation to the families of those who lost their lives while working on World Cup building sites.

According to Nindorf, football was changed when Qatar was given the right to host the World Cup. “I think it will be very difficult in the future to grant the right to organise the championship without discussing what this matter means,” Nindorf said. He also demanded that more criticism and focus be given to human rights and sustainability issues when granting the right to host championships in the future.

On the 31st of this month, Nancy February, Germany’s interior minister in Germany, will visit Qatar.
The minister’s spokeswoman recently stated: “The journey will focus on the human rights issues that are being discussed in light of the competition, such as responsibility towards migrant workers who built the World Cup stadiums and protecting those who belong to the M and M and persecution community.

“The competition will get underway in Qatar three weeks after November.

The head of the German Federation is against Qatar hosting the World Cup.
