Visitors to Karnak Temples enjoy Egypt’s partial solar eclipse phenomenon

CAIRO – 25 October 2022: In collaboration with the National Institute for Astronomical and Geophysical Research at Helwan University, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities took part in observing the partial solar eclipse phenomenon that Egypt experienced on October 25 from the front yard of the Karnak Temples in Luxor. The ministry was represented by the Supreme Council of Antiquities.

According to Mustafa Waziri, secretary general of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, the institute has made a number of telescopes and specialised equipment available to temple visitors so they can enjoy viewing this unusual astronomical occurrence.

Waziri continued, “The ministry’s involvement in observing this phenomenon demonstrates the degree of cooperation between all state entities and, at the same time, helps to enable tourists to enjoy a rare astronomical phenomenon from the centre of one of the epitome structures of Egyptian architecture, namely the Karnak Temples.

The partial solar eclipse event in Egypt is enjoyed by visitors to the Karnak Temples.
