Turkey is fined “Facebook” with more than $ 18 million

Meta (formerly known as Facebook) was fined more than $ 18 million by Turkish authorities today, Wednesday, for breaking the law on competition.
NTV has concluded its investigation into the prosecution’s claim that Meta breached Article 6 of Law No. 4054 regarding the protection of competition through its different platforms.

According to a statement made by the nation’s anti-monopoly council, which was cited by the channel, the company obstructed its rivals who provide social media services and online advertising markets by integrating their information into data it collected via “Facebook,” which resulted in the imposition of an administrative fine. The company will now pay 346 million pounds ($18.6 million) for the aforementioned commercial activity.

The council declared that the annual revenue of the firm registered in 2021 would be used to calculate the amount of the fine that was imposed.
