The election of Rishi Sonak as party leader and prime minister to replace Liz Tarras, who had earlier resigned, was made official by the chairman of the Conservative Party committee.
Mourtun withdrew from the campaign for the British Conservative Party’s leadership after receiving only 25 votes from the party’s deputies, according to sources, while Sonak received 194.
Tarras, last Thursday, resigned, after 45 days turned into the position, admitting that she could not provide an inexpensive economic package to reduce taxes, which had to abandon it after it angered within her party, and led to unrest in the financial markets for weeks.
It is well known that in a constitutional royal system where the king’s duties are mostly honorary, the office of prime minister in Britain is seen as the actual ruler of the nation.
Sonak is not the first son of immigrants to hold the position of leadership in the nation of his birth.
