The Prime Minister Najla Ramadan reacted to the suggestion to open the door for candidacy as soon as possible to select a general manager for each of the TV and Tunisian Radio Foundations, according to the Independent Supreme Authority for Audiovisual Communication in Tunisia (HAICA).

Al-Nouri Al-Lajami, the head of the commission, and the head of the government met last Saturday to discuss a variety of topics related to Tunisia’s audiovisual scene and the commission’s authority, including the issue of the government media, according to a statement released by the commission on Tuesday.

“The meeting discussed the importance of the government’s support for the audiovisual production support fund project, because it has a positive impact on the quality and diversity of media contents, and to establish the media for the work it undertakes in the best conditions, especially in light of the economic crisis witnessed by the media sector and the effects of the health crisis, World Kovid 19,” the statement continued.

According to the statement, the head of the commission emphasised the importance of launching an independent organisation as soon as possible to measure listening and viewing rates with the backing of the government, building on the fundamentals and open scientific curricula, in order to control the flow of advertising to radio and television channels and to create the business models for audiovisual media institutions.

In order to create a new communication relationship between the various parties, the head of the Independent High Commission for Audiovisual Communication emphasised the importance of opening lines of communication between the government presidency, the media, and the other media entities.
According to the statement, the president of the Tunisian government emphasised her desire to engage in the fruitful dialogue taking place between the government and the authority in the many joint files.
