The first comment from Juventus coach after bidding farewell to the Champions League

Juventus’ head coach, Massimiliano Alegre, feels that his team does not merit a spot in the current Champions League round of 16.
After defeating Benfica 4-1 in the match that put the two teams in the competition’s fifth round, Juventus announced their exit from the Champions League competitions.

“Of course, the exclusion of the Champions League is painful, but we are the ones who made life difficult for ourselves, and we must focus on the Italian league competition and catch up with leaders,” Alegre said in statements to the Sky Sport Italy network after the match.
“Our start in the Italian league competition was not ideal, but we need to regain our physical and mental strength, and concentrate on making up the points we lost in the past quarter,” he continued.

“What we exhibited in the current Champions League proves that we only deserve a position in the European League,” he said in his conclusion.
