The Commercial Bank of Kuwait was the first in Kuwait to graduate the first batch of employees who participated in the training programme “Preparing a Certified Bank Sign Language Interpreter,” which was the first of its kind in the banking sector and was documented by the Kuwait Association for Hearing Impairment.

This specific programme was created in response to Al-desire Tijari’s to excel in servicing the deaf and mute community when it came to completing financial transactions.

The event was attended by the bank’s CEO, Ilham Mahfouz, as well as many members of the senior management.

Mahfouz applauded the human resources sector for its efforts to strengthen the bank’s role by conducting such specialist training courses, to increase social responsibility for the deaf and mute population, and to achieve complete compliance with the Customer Protection Manual. The Kuwait Club for the Deaf’s Chairman of the Board of Directors, Hamad Al-Marri, attended the meeting and expressed his delight with the initiative of the banking sector in general and the “commercial sector” in particular to organise such training courses, praising his efforts in striving for excellence in serving customers of the deaf and dumb category, and hoping that this step is a stepping stone towards joint cooperation between the association and the banking sector.

In turn, the trainees expressed how much they benefited from this one-of-a-kind experience, which allowed them to communicate in sign language with a deaf and dumb individual as one of the practical activities in the training programme, and expressed gratitude to the Bank for its ongoing efforts to enrol them in training programmes that contribute to the development of their abilities and skills.

Sadiq Abdullah, General Manager of the Human Resources Sector, confirmed at the end of the ceremony that Al-Tijari was a pioneer in organising such courses and training programmes in collaboration with specialised authorities, as part of its strategy to serve customers of all segments and categories, noting that the main pillar of any institution is: its human resources and cadres, which always drives the Bank to invest in its employees and harness efforts to refine
