Burning human bones have been found by archaeologists working in a northern German forest that is 10,000 years old.
This is not only the oldest burial known in northern Germany, but also the first time that human residues of the intermediate stone age (between 15,000 and 5,000 years ago) in the Shlelesvig Holstein region, according to Ancient Organis.
There are at least 20 places of camps from the mediaeval stone and modern stone eras in Duvinsi, and the site where the bones were found is one of them. It is situated on the western shore of the ancient lake. Hazelnuts and fish, two highly essential sources of food for fisherman, are roasted in camps.
The camps grew larger over time, which would point to a wider distribution of hazelnuts with climate change.
