The “The Arts of the Islamic World and India, including luxury carpets” auction was set up by Sotheby’s International Auction House and is currently running in London through October 26. The auction included numerous Quranic manuscripts and historic Islamic papyri.
A remarkable decorative Qur’an by Youssef bin Abdullah, a student of Alaa al-Din Muhammad al-Tabrizi, was among the manuscripts and Quranic Qur’ans that were put up for sale in Safwa, Persia, in 983 AH (1575–76 AD). Its estimated price was between 400 and 600 thousand pounds, but it was sold for 280 thousand pounds.
Sotheby said in a statement that the Qur’an includes an Arabic manuscript on a polished creamy paper, consisting of 400 sheets 12 lines on the page, written in a line of strict copies of black ink on a sprayed floor with gold, verses separated by gold and multi -colored, Basmala and the name of God ‘are chosen in gold in The book was embellished throughout with colourful margins, marginal tools, and walls of the wall in blue against golden and multi-hued floral cartridges in various designs.
It is noteworthy that this year, a unique week of supplemental sales of paintings, drawings, publications, antique sculptures, and European art from the nineteenth century took place in the British capital of London.
