The “The Arts of the Islamic World and India, including luxury carpets” auction was set up by Sotheby’s International Auction House and is currently running in London through October 26. The auction included numerous Quranic manuscripts and historic Islamic papyri.

A remarkable decorative Qur’an by Youssef bin Abdullah, a student of Alaa al-Din Muhammad al-Tabrizi, was among the manuscripts and Quranic Qur’ans that were put up for sale in Safwa, Persia, in 983 AH (1575–76 AD). Its estimated price was between 400 and 600 thousand pounds, but it was sold for 280 thousand pounds.
