Emergencies Act inquiry summons Premier Doug Ford to testify

After declining to voluntarily appear, Ontario Premier Doug Ford and Solicitor General Sylvia Jones have been called to testify at the public inquiry looking into how the federal government used the Emergencies Act.
Ford and Jones allegedly rebuffed multiple requests from Public Order Emergency Commission lawyers to meet down for interviews on September 19.

Both have been invited by the commission to testify as witnesses, but last week Ford told reporters he hadn’t been contacted.
The commission’s attorneys believe Ford and Jones have information that might be pertinent to the inquiry’s objectives, according to a letter they issued today.
The commission is able to call witnesses to give testimony.

The “Freedom Convoy” paralysed the nation’s capital’s downtown in February, prompting the Trudeau administration to declare an emergency and launch the public inquiry, which got underway earlier this month.

Premier Doug Ford is required to testify in the Emergencies Act investigation.
