NATO: We invite Russia for not using the “dirty bomb” an excuse to escalate

The Secretary -General of NATO NATO Stoltenberg announced on Monday that the alliance rejects the “wrong allegations” of Russia, which accuses Ukraine of preparing to use a “dirty bomb”, stressing that Moscow should not use this “excuse” to escalate.
In a tweet, Stoltenberg stated that “NATO allies deny this assertion,” adding that he had discussed it with both the British and US defence secretaries.

Additionally, he emphasised that Russia shouldn’t use this justification to intensify the confrontation in Ukraine.
Following the confirmation by the Russian Ministry of Defense in its daily briefing that Ukraine had “reached the final stage of constructing this bomb,” a warning that radioactive elements might envelop Poland if it went off was issued.
She also explained that if the “dirty bomb” explodes, radioactive materials will spread in the atmosphere to a range of up to 1500 km.

In response, Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin’s spokesman, emphasised that the threat from Ukraine regarding the “dirty bomb” is genuine.
According to the Russian Sputnik, he also thought that “it is up to the West if they wanted to believe it or not.”
On the other hand, the United States, Britain and France confirmed in a joint statement today, its rejection of these allegations, warning Moscow against using any pretext to escalate the conflict.

Fears of the conflict and its crimes have increased since the beginning of the Russian military operation on Ukrainian territory on February 24. This is especially true after Russian President Vladimir Putin hinted to the potential of deploying the atomic bomb in a speech broadcast on September 21.

Then, he emphasised that he was prepared to employ “all means” available to him to combat the West if it ever posed a threat to his country’s security or territorial integrity, indicating that many Western analysts believed that the use of tactical nuclear weapons was intended.

NATO: By not using the “dirty bomb” as a pretext to escalate, Russia is invited.
