Russia discusses with Britain and America the dangers of “dirty bomb”

On Monday, Russian Army Chief of Staff Valerie Gerasimov held a phone conversation with his American counterpart, General Mark Millie, on the “dirty bomb” theme that Moscow says that the Ukrainian army is preparing to use it, while Kyiv is strongly rejecting this accusation.
Since May 19, this is the first time the heads of the Russian and American staffs have spoken about the war in Ukraine.

The potential of using Kiev as a “dirty bomb” was discussed over the phone with his British counterpart Tony Radakin, according to a statement made earlier on Monday by the Russian Ministry of Defense.

Sergey Shoigu, the Russian defence secretary, called Ben Wallace, his British counterpart, and expressed Russia’s concern about any provocations that Kiev may carry out. Wallace emphasised that he believes Ukraine will not escalate the situation by dropping a “dirty bomb” in its territory and accusing Russia of doing so.

Additionally, Shwigo communicated his concerns regarding future provocations by Kiev to his counterparts in France and Turkey. He also spoke with his American counterpart, Lloyd Austin, about the situation in Ukraine.
The dirty bomb does not entail a nuclear explosion but was created to contaminate a large region with radioactive elements, making it unsafe for civilians.
It is a mixture of explosives, such as dynamite, with radioactive powder or pelvis.

Radioactive materials are dispersed over a large region when dynamite or other explosives are set off.
Fears of the conflict and its crimes have increased since the beginning of the Russian military operation on Ukrainian territory on February 24. This is especially true after Russian President Vladimir Putin hinted to the potential of deploying the atomic bomb in a speech broadcast on September 21.

Then, he emphasised that he was prepared to employ “all means” available to him to combat the West if it ever posed a threat to his country’s security or territorial integrity, indicating that many Western analysts believed that the use of tactical nuclear weapons was intended.

Russia talks with the United Kingdom and the United States on “dirty bomb” dangers.
