In coordination with the diplomatic mission in Rome, the Tunisian consulate in Balricmo, and the relevant Italian authorities, the General Representative for the Protection of Tunisian Childhood continued to complete the necessary steps on Monday to ensure the four-year-old child victim of illegal immigration returns to the country in safe circumstances and as soon as possible.
The General Delegate for the Protection of Childhood, who arrived in Italy last Saturday, met with the Tunisian lawyer assigned by the consulate in Blaredmu to monitor the child’s case as well as the Italian lawyer assigned by the Italian authorities to temporarily care for the girl while her return procedures were being processed, according to the first Tunisian National Channel. The Tunisian official also discussed with the two lawyers possible solutions.
According to President Qais Saeed’s instructions, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Tunisians Abroad announced last Friday the formation of a cell from several ministries to take the necessary steps for the return of the four-year-old Tunisian girl who travelled alone to the Italian border on an illegal immigration boat.
The return of a child brought to Italy illegally is still being handled by the Tunisian Child Protection Representative.
