A new road accident in Turkey killed 16 people.
Following the accident in Gazientep, Anadolu reported an accident in the Derik district of Mardin province in southern Turkey, in which a truck lost control due to faulty brakes and ploughed into pedestrians and other automobiles, killing 16 people and wounding 29, eight of whom were badly injured.

The scene of the collision was flooded with emergency vehicles, firefighters, gendarmerie, and medical personnel, and the injured were treated in city hospitals. The vehicles involved in the crash were removed off the road using tow trucks and cranes.
Health Minister Fahrettin Koca expressed his concern at the event in a social media post: “We were surprised by the news of a second automobile accident.”

In the catastrophe that occurred when the truck’s brakes failed and it slammed into the crowd in Derik, sixteen people were murdered and 29 were injured, eight of them were critically injured. May God have mercy on those who perished in the catastrophe; my thoughts go out to their families, and I wish the injured a speedy recovery. To care for the injured, all available resources have been despatched.

Our goal is to avert more suffering as a result of the traffic accidents in Gaziantep and Mardin. As a country, we are heartbroken.
Also today, the governor of Gaziantep province reported a vehicle accident involving an ambulance in which 15 persons were killed and 22 others were injured.
