Lavrov: The West holds the energy resources trade

Sergey Lavrov, the foreign minister of Russia, said that Moscow is concerned about Western policies, which is preventing commerce in energy resources internationally and causing a crisis in the hydrocarbons market.

Lavrov said at a press conference following talks with the Secretary-General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference today, “There is no doubt that we have expressed our concern about the Western policy that restricts international trade in energy resources, creates a crisis in the oil and gas markets, and is trying to pressure the oil and gas producing countries.

Saudi Arabia and the rest of the “OPEC+” group opted to restrict output by two million barrels per day starting in November, despite constant pressure from Washington to increase production.
The choice was made based on market data and concerns that the impending economic crisis would harm crude consumption.
