A child is sick .. a Lebanese storms a bank in Sidon and threatens to burn himself

After banks reserved depositors’ money months ago, the frequent bank raids in Lebanon by incensed individuals came back to the fore.
Wafik Muhammad Kalu, a young guy, barged into the Bank of Lebanon and the Diaspora in the southern city of Sidon and threatened to set himself on fire.
The oppressed man asked the bank to hand over $ 5,000 from his deposit to cover an urgent practical cost of his infant son, who did not exceed his second month and who suffers from a hole in the heart, according to local media.

Security personnel arrived, cordoned off the bank, and started bargaining with him to get him to leave.
The bank’s founder, Mohamed Kalou, responded by explaining that he had accompanied him after the manager had promised to give him his deposit today once the necessary paperwork had been produced over the previous week.
He also emphasised that his two-month-old grandson, who has a hole in his heart, needed an immediate operation.

In addition, he emphasised that although the family has 5 accounts with various banks, they just requested $ 5,000 to cover the expense of the operation and that his son does not want anyone to harm anyone or be armed. They treated us like we were begging or sharpening, he claimed.

Why did we find or steal this money from the road?
It is interesting that the nation, which is experiencing its worst economic and living conditions, saw a series of simultaneous bank intrusions last month (September 2022) in several regions.
As the economic crisis worsened, Lebanese banks have since 2019 prohibited the majority of depositors from taking their funds out, leaving many individuals unable to cover the costs of their basic daily demands.
