Israel: We thwarted an attempt to smuggle drugs and weapons from Lebanon

Israel has once more announced that it is preventing attempts to move narcotics and weapons out of Lebanon. In a statement released today, the Israeli army made it plain that throughout the hours of Sunday night and Monday, its forces stopped an effort to smuggle drugs and weapons from the Hasbani region in southern Lebanon into the interior of Israel.
He also indicated that he had suspended a suspect, and was found two guns and about 30 kilograms of drugs, at an estimated value of 800,000 “new shekels”.

He emphasised that the police were tasked with conducting an investigation into the detainee, the drugs, and the weapons.
In addition, he stressed that it is proceeding to repel all attempts to smuggle on the Lebanese border, whether for sabotage or criminal purposes or with the aim of smuggling.

Because Hezbollah controls the southern regions of Lebanon and continues to spread there despite the UN resolution that was issued following the so-called “July” war of 2006, Tel Aviv has long announced its efforts to stop the smuggling of weapons and has accused Hezbollah of being involved in it. Hezbollah has also refused to withdraw from the Lebanese-Israeli border.

Several Western reports also indicated that the party was involved in global and regional drug smuggling operations, and even financing many of its activities through it.
Additionally, a number of Lebanese officials have frequently charged the Iranian-backed group with engaging in various forms of border crossing smuggling.
