South Korea seeks to develop relations with China

As Chinese President Xi Jinping started his third term in office, a source in the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday said that South Korea is looking to improve relations with China.

The government will continue its efforts to build a relationship between South Korea and China with the new Chinese leadership on the basis of a spirit of reciprocity and respect, the source said, adding that Seoul is also considering sending an official congratulations message to Beijing. This information was reported by the South Korean News Agency.

On October 23, during the first full meeting of the party’s twentieth committee, Shi was chosen to serve as Secretary-General of the Communist Party and Chairman of the Central Military Committee.

When the party’s general secretary was chosen at the eighteenth conference of the party in 2012 and the nineteenth party conference in 2017, the previous presidents of South Korea, Lee Mong-Bak and Moon Jae-in, conveyed congratulations to the Chinese leader.

South Korea wants to strengthen its ties with China.
