Saudi Arabia reveals the reasons for Prince Mohamed’s absenteeism from the Algerian summit

DHABI – According to a medical recommendation, the Saudi Royal Court confirmed today, Sunday, that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman will not travel to Algeria to attend the Arab summit. Instead, Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud will lead the Kingdom’s delegation to the conference.

According to the Royal Court, Prince Muhammad, 37, was instructed by doctors not to fly long distances nonstop in order to prevent pressure buildup and its effects on the middle ear.

The Saudi Royal Court said in its statement that King Salman, the country’s ruler, had already committed to sending his crown prince to the meeting. However, the medical team in the royal clinics recommended that he (Crown Prince) to travel by plane for long distances without stopping, in order to avoid the pressure of the pressure ear and influence the middle ear, It is impossible for him to visit the sister Algeria, taking into account the length of the journey in going and returning within a period not exceeding (24) hours.

Prince Mohamed will not attend the summit, which will take place in Algiers on November 1st, according to a medical advice to stay home, the Algerian presidency announced in a statement late Saturday night.

Prince Mohamed “expressed his regret for not attending the Arab Summit meeting” by phone, according to the statement, and “The President expressed his understanding of this situation and his sadness for the inability to attend Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman, wishing him good health and wellness.”

Ali Al-Shihabi, a government-affiliated Saudi analyst, suggested earlier on Sunday that this health issue might be connected to a “ear condition.” Prince Muhammad, he wrote on Twitter, “has a chronic ear condition that makes it difficult to travel by air for a long distance since pressure on the plane might create an ear blockage for weeks. This explains why he occasionally alters plans to fly at the last minute. Nothing is crucial.

According to a Saudi official, the Saudi king, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, 86, nominated Prince Muhammad as prime minister in September in accordance with the former king’s permission for his obligations to his son and heir, which include the Kingdom’s representation of foreign travels.

The causes of Prince Mohamed’s absence from the Algerian summit are disclosed by Saudi Arabia.
