Johnson withdraws from the candidacy race to lead the Conservative Party

Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson abruptly announced on Monday night that he was quitting the campaign for the leadership of the Conservative Party.
Johnson declared: “I heard enough opinions, but I came to the decision that my candidacy will not be true.”
He added: “The best thing I do now is not to continue to run and I pledge to provide support to those who succeed. I believe I can provide it a lot, but this is not the best course of action.

With Johnson’s resignation, former British Finance Minister Rishi Sonak, who is now leading the Conservative Party deputies’ nominations with 144 backers, can now run for office.
By Monday at 2 p.m., conservative legislators need the endorsement of 100 of their colleagues to run.

Johnson drops out of the running to be the leader of the Conservative Party.
