In the 11th round of the Spanish League on Sunday, French striker Antoine Griezmann scored twice to help his team Atletico Madrid defeat Real Betis 2-1 and reclaim third position.
In the 54th minute, Griezmann gave Atletico the advantage by carrying a corner kick directly into the goal. In the 70th minute, he added a second goal in collaboration with Brazilian striker Matthews Kony. He dribbled into the area, set himself up with the ball with his left foot, and fired with a powerful creeping right between the legs of Portuguese goalkeeper Roy Silva.
Nabil Faqir, a midfielder for France’s national team, scored the game-winning goal for Real Betis in the 84th minute from a direct free kick.
Atletico Madrid got back on the winning streak that had ended at five games in a row when they conceded a 1-1 draw to their neighbour and guest Rayo Vicano.
Atletico Madrid has won seven games this season in the Spanish League, bringing their total to 23 points and moving them into third place, one point behind Real Sociedad, who lost 0-1 to their host Valladolid on Saturday at the start of the stage.
Real Betis, on the other hand, dropped to fifth place with 20 points after suffering their second loss in their past five games and their third loss overall this year.
