Electric vehicles start operating in Abu Simbel

At order to carry Egyptian visitors and tourists inside the historic region, a number of eco-friendly electric automobiles have begun to operate in Abu Simbel as of October 23, 2022.

Mustafa Waziri, secretary general of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, made this statement in order to highlight the desire of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, represented by the Supreme Council of Antiquities, to operate these cars in order to facilitate the transportation of tourists who were eager to visit the archaeological area in order to witness the Sun Illumination Phenomenon of Ramses II’s statue, which was witnessed by nearly 4,000 Egyptian and foreign tourists.

On October 22 at 5:53 a.m., the sun shone on the statue of Ramses II and lighted its face.

According to Waziri, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities is working to develop and improve the effectiveness of visitor services in all museums and archaeological sites nationwide, especially those open for visits, to provide all means of availability and improve visitors’ experiences during their visit while concurrently transforming the tourism sector into a more sustainable industry.
