After the police reported that a suspicious object had been discovered and later removed at the ferry terminal, the local Canadian authorities paused operations at the Billy Bishop airport in Toronto.
In a tweet posted to the micro-blogging site Twitter, the police stated that they had been called to the airport and that their emergency unit had been dispatched to the scene. They also stated that two people had been detained in the accident, which had resulted in the closure of nearby roads while the police investigated.
Two Canadian airlines have been moved to Hamilton, according to a tweet from Billy Bishop Airport, and any passengers still inside the structure have been evacuated.
The authorities at the airport said that “a device was discovered on a parked bike near the ferry station on the side of the island,” and later tweeted that the bike has been removed since then, and it is not clear what the expulsion contained, or whether the package is considered dangerous.
The probe affected the trips, and the officials warned the passengers to expect delays because it is unclear when the regular operations will return.
The Toronto Ports Authority stated, “We are awaiting a statement from the Toronto Police services to reopen the boat and tunnel station.” Police request that people stay away from the area.
