According to NGOs, Muhsa Amini, a young Iranian Kurd, died after being arrested, which sparked significant protests in Iran more than a month ago.

After being detained by the Ethics Police in Tehran for breaking the stringent clothing codes the Islamic Republic imposes on women who choose to wear the veil in public settings, Muhsa Amini passed away at the age of 22.
According to the Human Rights Organization in Iran, which is based in Oslo, the effort to repress the protests, which is the broadest since Iran in 2019, has resulted in the increase in fuel prices and the deaths of at least 122 people, including children.
