Diesel prices in Nova Scotia down 16 cents after weeks of increases

After the utility used its interrupter clause on Saturday, the price of diesel in Nova Scotia fell sharply.
Pump prices dropped by 16.4 cents overnight to a minimum of $2.24 per litre. Diesel prices in the province are highest in Cape Breton, where they currently start at $2.26 a litre.
The interrupter clause will be used by the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board to change the price of diesel, it was announced Friday afternoon.

According to the NSUARB announcement, “This modification is required due to major swings in the market pricing of diesel oil.”
This follows three weeks of steadily rising pricing and interruptions.
Price increases by NSUARB of 11.9 cents on October 5, 13.7 cents on October 8, and 12.9 cents on October 15 total a 38.5 cent rise in less than a month.
The Saturday interrupter clause had little impact on gasoline prices.
The price of gas increased by one cent on Friday.
