Following harsh criticism from British figures, “Netflix” added a phrase indicating that its series “The Crown,” which is based on the life of the late Queen of Britain, Elizabeth II, and has enjoyed widespread public success, is a “novelist” work based on actual events at the bottom of its promotional clip.
“This narrative dramatic work based on genuine facts relates the story of Queen Elizabeth II and the political and personal events that defined her era,” it says at the foot of the propaganda pages for the series on “YouTube” and the “Netflix” website.
To date, the platform has not responded to requests to add this alert. But when the fifth season of the show was set to premiere on November 9, the criticism of the show intensified.
Former British Prime Minister John Megor described the series as a “barrel of nonsense” after British media reported that the fifth season shows Charles, trying to remove the queen in the 1990s, and his pressure on Megor to push his mother to step down from the throne.
He was also condemned by Judy Denish, who played Queen Victoria in the television show, who called him “unjustly unjust” to the royal family.
The Oscar -winning actress and close to King Charles and his wife took on “Netflix” as “Shusht lines between historical accuracy and crude excitement”, fearing that “a large number of viewers” believe that the series expresses the historical truth.
The author of Mother Queen’s CV, William Shukros, called the series “hateful” and said it was full of lies and half-truths in the newspaper “Daily Telegraph.”
Following the passing of his mother Elizabeth II last month, 73-year-old Charles is introduced in the new season of “The Crowne,” which is regarded as one of “Netflix’s” biggest successes. On May 6, it will be crowned in London.
“Netflix” continues “The Crowne,” highlighting the fact that it is a “novelist” based on actual events.
