Greece proposes to provide Austria and southern Germany with electricity

According to Greek Energy Minister Costas Skarikas, his nation proposed building a cable that would deliver electricity generated from renewable sources to Austria and southern Germany.
According to the Greek daily “Kathmerini,” Athens streamlined licences and supported significant investments in enlarging energy networks, more than doubling the percentage of renewable energy sources to 70% of electricity consumption by 2030.

“We have already submitted a proposal to Austria and to the Austrian counterparts and my German counterpart, to build an electric cable linking Greece to Austria as well as in southern Germany,” Skarikas added – at a renewable energy conference in Athens.
The Kabul will have a 3 gigawatt capacity that may be increased to 9 GB and will travel across Albania and the other Balkan nations.

The criteria for carrying out and financing such a project are currently being discussed with Austria and Germany, according to a source in the ministry.
