An 81-year-old Danish woman was detained in Poland on suspicion of carrying huge quantities of narcotics.
They added that customs officers at Warsaw Frederic Chopin Airport in Poland’s capital decided to search the elderly woman’s bags when she stopped at the airport due to her suspicious behavior, and they discovered that one of the bags contained 5 kilograms of heroin, worth more than $500,000, and the drugs were hidden under a fake floor in the bag.

The woman, who was traveling from Malawi, denied any involvement with drugs and claimed that her family members gave her the bag with gifts to deliver to their relatives in Canada, according to the Warsaw Prosecutor’s Office, while authorities ordered her detention for three months while prosecutors investigated. If convicted of the charge of illicit drugs possession, this woman faces a jail term of up to 15 years in Poland.
