Protests in Iranian Zahedan weeks after “bloody Friday”

Three weeks after the “bloody Friday” riots that claimed dozens of lives, hundreds of protesters took to the streets of Zahedan in southeast Iran today, according to videos uploaded online.
Violence broke out in the Sistan-Blushistan governorate’s Zahedan city for several days, starting with protests that were called on September 30 in response to claims that a girl had been sexually assaulted by a police officer.

The Human Rights Organization in Iran estimates that 93 people have been killed as a result of violence.
For its part, the media, close to the Iranian government, described Zahedan’s confrontations as a “terrorist incident” directed against a police station, noting that it had killed five members of the Revolutionary Guards.

In a video that went viral on social media on Friday, protesters gathered outside a police station and chanted, “Death for the dictator,” in reference to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the supreme leader of Iran.
Another video footage depicting demonstrators assembling after Friday prayers and yelling “Death to Khamenei” and “Unity, Unity” was released by Radio “Varda,” a Persian-language station supported by the United States.

These anti -regime slogans in Iran are among the most frequently during the demonstrations that were ignited by the death of Misha, more than a month ago.
The 22-year-old Kurdish woman passed away on September 16, three days after being detained in Tehran by the Ethics Police for failing to adhere to the Islamic Republic’s rigorous clothing code for women.

One of Iran’s poorest provinces, Sistan Baluchistan is home to the Sunni Baloch minority and is situated in the southeast of the country close to the borders with Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Activists and non -governmental organizations have long indicated that this region faces discrimination by the religious authority in Tehran, where a number of Baluch are killed in clashes with law enforcement authorities every year, or is included or even executed.

The National Council for Iranian Resistance declared that more than 400 protesters had been slain in Iran as demonstrations went on in several locations.
He continued by saying that, based on information obtained by the opposition, more than 20,000 people had been detained nationwide.
Since the middle of last month, protests have persisted in various parts of Iran, mostly at night. The security forces have sworn to put an end to them.
