Football greats emphasise gravity of upcoming World Cup in NZ

With legends of the game, dignitaries, and more expected in Aotearoa tomorrow for the tournament draw, the countdown to New Zealand’s largest-ever athletic event has reached another critical milestone.
Tomorrow night in Auckland’s Aotea Square, teams will find out who and where they will play in the pool stages. Football legends Carli Lloyd and Ian Wright will be present to assist with the spectacular.

In addition to being the biggest and best World Cup ever for women’s soccer, Lloyd predicted that it would also be the most difficult.
She ought to be aware; she helped the USA win the Cup twice, including a hat-trick in the 2015 championship game.
There are many competitors, she remarked, adding that the world has caught up.
“I think for so many years, the US have been ahead of the game.

We’ve received support and investment, and now you can see support and investment taking place all over the world.”
According to Wright, this investment has helped women’s football achieve an all-time high.
“I saw that during the Euros, my god,” he exclaimed.
“The pressure is intense because everybody wants you to do well and you want the host nation to be doing well, but when you do – we won the [Euro] final [this year] then people are so jacked up, buzzing, happy and people want to play.

It literally elevates everything to a new level.
