The chief of the Ukrainian presidential office, Andre Yermak, has blasted Western politicians and businesses who are advocating a settlement between Russia and Ukraine based on Kyiv’s demands.
Without providing any supporting proof, he accused Yermak Russia of engaging in “nuclear extortion” in a post for the “Washington Post” that was published on Thursday.
He continued: “The useful fools in the West are calling for peace more and more. In the interest of fairness.
“According to the Ukrainian assistant, the narrative that is being propagated throughout the world is that “Ukraine must stop trying to restore the lands in order to prevent the commencement of a worldwide war.”
He stated: “Ukraine seeks tranquilly. Ukraine wants peace very much. Our circumstances are known, nevertheless.
We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: it calls for “punishing the crime of aggression,” “restoring Ukraine’s security and territorial integrity,” “security guarantees,” and “a commitment from the international community to implement this programme.”
Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and the creator of SpaceX, expressed his doubts in the beginning of October about the likelihood that Ukraine would prevail in a full-scale conflict with Russia and urged the two sides to negotiate a settlement based on a vision that objected to “re-voting” in Donbas “under the supervision of the United Nations,” kept the Crimean Peninsula as an unofficial part of Russia, and recognised Ukraine’s neutral status.
Bill Ekman, another American billionaire, suggested a few days ago that Ukraine should give up joining NATO and cede control of the Crimea to Russia.
