The Vice-President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council in Sudan, Lieutenant General Muhammad Hamdan Daglo, served as the chairman of the meeting of the Supreme Committee for Political and Administrative Supervision of the Abyei region, which was convened today at the Republican Palace.
In a statement released today, Thursday, Ambassador Dafallah Al-Hajj Ali, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the Supreme Committee had discussed the general state of the Abyei region and ways to assist its residents in light of the recent downpours of rain and torrential storms.
The meeting discussed distributing the essential humanitarian aid to the locals of the area as well as other services that aid them, the undersecretary noted.
He clarified that the committee chose to stay since it was part of its duty to bring about security and stability in the Abyei region.
The meeting of the Supreme Committee for Political and Administrative Supervision of the Abyei region is presided over by the vice-chairman of the Sovereign Council of Sudan.
