Gianni Infantino, the president of FIFA, and officials from the local federation played in a football game immediately after 133 people were killed in a game, which sparked a wave of fury in Indonesia.
Infantino visited Indonesia two weeks after the first of October tragedy, in which 133 spectators died after the use of tear gas by the police to break up a crowd at the conclusion of an Arima vs. Percipaya Surabaya match in Malang, east of Java.
Infantino and Joko Widodo, the president of the nation, met in Jakarta to discuss Indonesian football reform and the FIFA resolution to improve matchday security.
However, the local federation of the game published on Wednesday morning, pictures on social media showing Infantino playing a match with the president of the local federation, Mohamed Eriaan, who demanded resignation from his post and appeared during them smiling and exchanged salutations.
“It was better for them to go together to the victims of the disaster (Stadium) Kanguruhan rather than play football together.
He also slammed the “Pandit Football” account, which has 600,000 users and is popular among Indonesian football enthusiasts.
More than 4000 comments were left on the tweet from the Indonesian Union, the majority of which were critical. On Wednesday, the debate was one of the most significant subjects in Indonesia to be debated on social media.
