The Battle of Navarin, which broke out on October 20, 1827, between the Ottoman fleet, which was supported by the Egyptian fleet under Ibrahim Pasha, and the Algerian fleet, on the one hand, and the fleets of allies Britain, France, and Russia, on the other, is commemorated today on the 195th anniversary. The battle took place in the Gulf of Navarin (Velaus, east of Al -Moura), southwest of the current Greece, and arranged after the battle, an Algerian military weakness in the sea opened the door to hostile attacks, which encouraged Charles X, the king of France to impose a sea blockade, which ended with the occupation of Algeria in 1830.
