The European Parliament awards the Sakharov Award to the “brave” Ukraine people

In recognition of its struggle against the Russian invasion, the Ukrainian people received the European Parliament’s annual Award for intellectual freedom on Wednesday.
“It is also crucial to let you know that the Presidents Conference has agreed on this decision. The European Parliament and the Ukrainian people have watched a brave defence of their nation, freedom, homes, and families over the last nine months.

But the Ukrainian people also put their lives at danger to defend the principles of liberty, democracy, and the rule of law that are shared by all of Europe. So there is no one who deserves this award more than them, so this award is dedicated to those Ukrainians who are fighting for the sake of the land, for those who were forced to flee, and for the sake of those Those who lost their relatives and friends, and for all those who stand and fight for the sake of those who believe in it.

I am confident that the courageous Ukrainian people, like us, will not give up.
The European Union announced that the award’s cash prize of 50,000 euros (or 49100 USD) will be given to Ukrainian civil society representatives.
The Sakharov Award, which was named after the late Soviet exhibitions Andrei Sakharov, was awarded annually since 1988 to individuals and organizations that defend human rights and basic freedoms..
