Tunisian President Kais Saied signed the new constitution into law on Wednesday evening.
Said declared during his speech at the passage of the constitution, “Together, we reversed the course of the revolution and history, and the will of the Tunisian people has not and will not be broken.”
He went on to say that after the constitution is passed, new election legislation would be created in the coming years.
In his speech marking the new constitution’s adoption, he declared, “We waited for the appeals to be decided in light of the legal hierarchy, which they flipped upside down in order to embrace the new constitution.”
