Quebec man charged with killing his son, daughter has court date pushed back

A Quebec man who has been charged in relation to the deaths of his two children’s arraignment has been postponed once more.
Kamaljit Arora, 45, was scheduled to appear on Wednesday in the afternoon; however, Crown prosecutors asked that it be delayed until Thursday owing to his “condition of health,” without providing any other information. His legal aid attorney claimed she has not yet spoken to him.

After authorities were requested to step in at a private property on Lauzon Street in Laval’s Ste-Dorothée neighbourhood Monday night, the suspect was taken into custody.
Two kids inside the suburban semi-detached home were given CPR attempts by police, but they were transferred to the hospital and later confirmed dead. Flowers, letters and stuffed animals have been placed as part of a makeshift memorial in the front yard.

Arora is accused of killing his children, a 13-year-old girl and an 11-year-old boy, on two charges of first-degree murder. Prosecutors have also filed a case against him for allegedly strangling his wife on one occasion.
The accused was originally scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday in the afternoon, but it was postponed until the following day when the Crown and the legal aid attorney who was supposed to represent Arora informed the court that he had been unable to speak since his arrest.

Arora was transported to the hospital after being arrested with an undisclosed injury.
Although a judge in Quebec agreed to postpone the arraignment until Wednesday, when attorneys hoped Arora would be able to appear, he was nonetheless officially accused on Tuesday.
