Macron increases the support of electric cars for low -income people to 7 thousand euros

French President Emmanuel Macron proposed an increase in help for impoverished families in France to 7,000 euros next year (from 6,000 euros this year), while cutting support for other French purchasers to 5,000 euros.

Macron also stated in an interview with the daily business newspaper LES Echos that the social leasing programme, which will begin in early 2024, will assist low-income families in getting an electric automobile for 100 euros per month.

Until now, there aren’t many French electric vehicles on the road, but Macron hopes that things will improve soon as he works to cut purchasing costs to compete with internal combustion engine automobiles, as he stated, “We have an industrial strategy applied to consumers to buy more and more (French cars)”.

As part of France’s automotive policy, Stelintes CEO Carlos Tavares announced an important decision to collect electrical versions of the Peugeot 308 sedan from Stelncis and the Peugeot 408 in France, after most models were assembled elsewhere, and commented: “We said that Stelins will protect the European auto industry, especially the French.”

Tafaris stated that the number of vehicles manufactured by the world’s fourth largest automaker for the French car sector would soon quadruple to 12 out of 6.

At the same time, Renault will construct a variety of new electric vehicles in France, such as the Renault 4, a tiny four-wheel drive vehicle with styling nods to the 4L in the 1960s that will be manufactured in northern France and will go on sale in 2025, joining the Kanto electric model. The new, Mobig-based manufacturer, and the new Megane-based manufacturer in Dway, both in northern France, will join Senic and Renault 5 manufacturing in Dawai by 2024.

Macron raises the subsidies for electric vehicles for low-income households to 7,000 euros.
