The World Cup 2022 .. A Dutch government delegation to Qatar, despite the opposition of Parliament

Despite a House of Representatives-approved petition urging authorities not to travel to the Gulf state due to the poor treatment of its workers, the Netherlands government declared that it will send a delegation to the World Cup in Qatar.

The Dutch government wrote to Parliament today, Wednesday, stating that it “shares the opinion of Parliament regarding the human rights situation, notably those relating to workers who practise in Qatar, and believes that it must change.”
The status of employees in Qatar has improved, and the European Union and other nations aim to send official representatives regarding them, so in exchange, in our intention, a government mission is sent there.

Mark Route, the liberal prime minister, stated that his country had “huge interests in relations with Qatar,” citing the Gulf nation’s crucial contribution to maintaining energy security in Europe and, by extension, the Netherlands.
The Dutch government expressed its desire to “cooperate with Qatar in the framework of a continuous change policy” and did not rule out having King Willem Alexander of the Netherlands attend the November 20 World Cup opening ceremony.
