‘Difficult days ahead’: Freeland says Canada, world heading for economic slowdown

Chrystia Freeland, Canada’s finance minister, predicted a global economic slowdown on Wednesday and asserted that her country has the financial resources to weather the approaching “difficult days.”
In a speech in Windsor, Freeland said, “There are still some challenging days ahead for the Canadian economy and for the economies of all of our friends and allies across the world.”

“We are making sure that Canada has the financial wherewithal to help individuals in need both now and in the difficult times to come. We will survive the impending economic recession for both Canada and the rest of the world, she assured.
She made these remarks after Statistics Canada revealed on Wednesday that, despite a drop in annual inflation to 6.9%, food prices nationwide continued to rise in September.

“Difficult days ahead,” adds Freeland, predicting a global economic slowdown.
