After Russian President Vladimir Putin announced today, Wednesday, the state of war in the four Ukrainian regions that were included in his country last month (Donetsk, Lugansk, Khairsson and Zaburigia), Ukrainian President Mikhailo Podolak, condemned the step.
Putin, in Poduliac’s opinion, had consistently made decisions on “absurd legislation to pillage the property of the Ukrainians.”
“He also observed in his statement on Twitter that it is impossible to think of the imposition of “martial law” on Russian-occupied territory other than as the ludicrous legislation to plunder Ukrainians’ property, he said.
He continued by saying that nothing will change for Ukraine and vowed to take action to free the country from occupation.
These changes followed Putin’s announcement that he had signed a proclamation establishing martial law in Donbas, Khairsson, and Zaburiia during a meeting of the Russian Security Council.
He also announced the construction of regional defence centres in those joining areas, indicating that he had given the rulers of the aforementioned regions increased authority to protect security and coordinate the operations of enterprises and institutions to support the military operation.
Additionally, the Russian president gave the government instructions to establish a coordination council with the participation of the regions, led by Prime Minister Mikhail Michosin.
A maximum alert was also declared by the head of the Kremlin for Moscow and the southern federal region, which are part of the central federal provinces.
He called for strengthening public order protection, ensuring public safety, and protecting military and government facilities.
Moreover, establishing an unique system to run facilities that ensure the operation of communication, energy, and transportation facilities and utilise their performance to satisfy defence demands. He also asked for the implementation of the inspection and a limitation on the movement of vehicles.
Additionally, Russian President Kyiv blamed the October 8 bombing of the Crimean Bridge.
He also stressed that Ukraine rejects any offer to negotiate and continue to bomb civilians.
In September 30, Putin declared, to raucous acclaim, that four Ukrainian regions will be included in a celebration on Moscow’s Red Square. Representatives from these regions signed the decrees.
However, given that it is void and against international law, as well as the fact that the referendums held in those regions were held under the “pressure of the Russian occupation,” this action has sparked intense criticism and assurances from around the world that it will not have any international impact.
In contrast, the Ukrainian forces have been launching counterattacks since late September, particularly in the northeast and south.
