Three women will make history at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, which will be the first edition to ever have a referee. They hope that their ability, not their gender, will be judged.
French The International Federation (FIFA) selected 36 judgments, three more women will participate as aid rulings, including Stephanie Farrabar, Rwanda Selima Mochensana, and Japanese Yusmy Yamashita.
In addition to the assistant rulers, the three arena rulers—Brazillian Nuiza Pak, Mexican Karen Das Medina, and American Catherine Nissbit—were picked after they shown their abilities in the game of men.
Pierreji Kulina, the head of the Italian FIFA’s Referees Committee, emphasised: “We categorically confirm that it is the quality that is crucial to us, not sex.”
After the World Cup’s quick ascent to the top level of arbitration in Europe, Frabar (38 years old) felt that choosing it was the next natural step. In 2019, she became the first female manager of a French first division game, and the following year, she assumed control of her nation’s Women’s World Cup final.
Before managing matches in the Champions League in 2020 and the French Cup final last year, Farrabar also oversaw the European Super Cup 2019 final between Liverpool and Chelsea.
Frabar expressed shock at her World Cup participation, saying, “Nothing is above the World Cup, I did not expect that.”
Yamashita, who is two years younger, made a remarkable comeback in Japan in 2019 and became the first woman to oversee an AFC Champions League game.
She left her job as a fitness coach early this year and transitioned into the working world.
Yamashita told AFP that she “never dreamed” that she would be given the chance to arbitrate the World Cup, but she is glad to have it.
In fact, she only learned Japanese after being persuaded by a buddy from college who later admitted to having “pushed” her into taking charge the first time.
After Mukansanaga (34 years old) became the first female match referee at the African Men Cup in January, she was also invited to the World Cup for a year.
Rwandan began managing games in the women’s domestic league in her nation by the age of twenty, despite having once dreamed of becoming a professional basketball player.
However, the three rulers are unanimous that they do not want their gender to be a field of discussion, and they assert that they do not follow the limelight.
In a recent interview with her for the website of the International Federation, Yamashita stated, “I will do everything in my ability to accentuate the aesthetic of football. I have no desire for authority or control.
Regarding Farrabar, which is well-liked in France due to its diplomatic approach and level of stability, it is no longer based on your gender. It has to do with your capacity.
The 2022 World Cup will set a historical precedent for women’s arbitration.
