9.9 % inflation in the euro area during September

According to figures released today by the European Statistical Office “Eurostat,” the inflation rate in the euro area jumped to 9. 9% during September of last year, above forecasts that it would approach 10%.
In August of last year, the inflation rate was 9.1%.
With the exception of energy, food, alcohol, and tobacco, the overall inflation rate rose to 4.8% in September from 4.3% in August.
In September of last year, the inflation index increased by 1.2% on a monthly basis.

Energy costs experienced the largest yearly growth of the four components of inflation, at 40.7%, followed by food, drink, and tobacco prices at 11.8%.

Inflation in the euro zone was 9.9% in September.
