The Saudi Football Association will publish the initial list of the first team, which will be selected by French coach Herve Renard to compete in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, before next Friday, according to a news report from today, Wednesday.
The International Football Association (FIFA) stipulates that the initial list must contain between 35 and 55 players, including at least four goalkeepers, and that the final list, which must contain between 23 and 26 players, including three goalkeepers, be presented before November 14 in order to be included in the initial list.
Private sources told the Saudi newspaper “Al-Riyadiah” that FIFA requested not to make the original list public before turning it over to the World Cup organising committee on October 21.
FIFA also specified 70 people who can accompany the Saudi national team, as is the case in the rest of the teams, from officials and guests, provided that the tasks of each person were determined during the presence of the World Cup.
According to the sources, the Saudi team administration will submit the organising committee with the schedule of the team’s arrival in Doha, the team’s first match against Argentina, the team’s flight number, and the number of practise sessions the team will play next week.
In preparation for the World Cup, Renard is in the process of releasing the original Saudi national team roster.
