Finland postpones the operation of a new nuclear reactor … and a warning of a possible lack of energy

The start-up date of a new nuclear reactor in Finland has been postponed, which might worsen a potential energy shortage that prompted the authorities to issue a warning that the Scandinavian nation is at risk of frequent electrical current interruptions.

The postponement is due to damage that was monitored in the feeding water pumps in the turbine group of the unit of Olkloto-3, which has a capacity of 1600 megawatts, during the experimental stage, according to the operating company, “Tiolisodine Veua Oum” in a statement, according to the Bloomberg News Agency today, Wednesday.
The business also stated that there is no impact on nuclear safety and that a fresh estimate would be finished in the “coming days” to begin organised energy production.

Following the entire suspension of imports from Russia in May of last year, the station was supposed to serve as a significant source of electricity for the Scandinavian nation.

Finland delays the start-up of a new nuclear reactor and issues a warning about a potential energy shortage.
