“Atomic Energy” director expects to return to Ukraine soon

Rafael Grossi, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, told Reuters on Tuesday that he anticipated returning “soon” to Ukraine amid discussions to create a security buffer zone around the Russian-occupied Zaburigia nuclear power station.
In an effort to create a nuclear security and security area around the station, which has experienced power outages over the previous few weeks owing to the site attack, Grusi served as a mediator between Moscow and Kiev.

Earlier, the International Atomic Energy Agency expressed its concern about the detention of two Ukrainian employees working at the station, which is located in one of the four Ukrainian regions that Russia declared to include it, but it only partially occupies it.
During a trip to Argentina, Grossi told Reuters, “There is a possibility that I may return to Ukraine and Russia; in fact, this is what we agreed in general.”

The discussions aimed at establishing the protective zone are still ongoing.
The discussions are viewed as being important to allay worries about the risks of attacking the biggest nuclear facility in Europe or surrounding communities, which have grown since August.
Russia and Ukraine exchanged blame for bombing.

The head of the UN organisation stated that it cannot be ruled out that Russia will carry out its many threats to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine, but added that this is “not an urgent prospect.”
It is obvious that nothing can be excluded, he continued. I am not within the decision -making mechanism in that country, but I think it will be an extremist.

In response to a query regarding ongoing discussions to resurrect the nuclear deal with Iran, Grusi emphasised that the negotiations are experiencing “stagnation,” adding that the International Atomic Energy Agency lacks crucial information as a result of the inspection restrictions put in place in recent months.

The director of “Atomic Energy” plans to visit Ukraine soon
